Description
Published to mark the 70th anniversary of the Maranello-based company in 2017, this volume is intended not as a new history of the brand but rather as a tribute to the Ferrari of its golden years, when there was only one man at the helm: Enzo Ferrari. Featuring images by one of the Prancing Horse's most faithful photographers, Franco Villani, the book retraces, through the powerful evocative power of photography, the epic story of the man and his unique creation, from the late 1940s, when the 125 S took its first steps in the factory courtyards, to the 1980s, when the Commendatore passed away on a midsummer morning. This precious, mostly previously unpublished, material is complemented by a detailed historical reconstruction by Leonardo Acerbi, a profound connoisseur of the brand.
In this new edition, revised and expanded with 40 additional pages, the work is enriched, for each decade, with a series of in-depth articles dedicated to the most important men in the Prancing Horse's sporting history: names such as Gioachino Colombo, Aurelio Lampredi, Romolo Tavoni, Franco Gozzi, Carlo Chiti, Mauro Forghieri, Piero Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Marco Piccinini, and John Barnard. Each is accompanied by a dedicated text and other previously unpublished images.
