2026 marks the centenary of the birth of Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history. For over seventy years, she has been a symbol of stability and continuity, accompanying the United Kingdom through profound historical changes.

To mark this special anniversary, the Royal Mint is paying tribute to the Sovereign's extraordinary life with a coin commemorating her legendary reign. Since her accession to the throne in 1952, the Royal Mint has minted all official UK coins, both circulating and commemorative, accompanying every stage of her historic reign.

The reverse of the coin was created specifically for this tribute by heraldic artist Timothy Noad. The design draws inspiration from the elegant wrought ironwork of St. George's Chapel, Elizabeth II's final resting place, transforming this coin into a tribute rich in historical and symbolic meaning.
