Description

The coin is dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Louis Pasteur. The obverse depicts Louis Pasteur surrounded by the inscription "LOUIS PASTEUR - 200th ANNIVERSARY OF HIS BIRTH". A microscope is also included in the drawing, as well as the dates "1822-1895" and the denomination "10 EURO". The reverse of the commemorative coin features the official coat of arms of Malta and the year of issue "2022".

Louis Pasteur was a French chemist, physicist, biochemist and co-founder of medical microbiology. Not only did he make a decisive contribution to the prevention of infectious diseases through vaccination, but he also invented the famous pasteurization process.
